AMSTERDAM - The large majority of the Labour PvdA faction is satisfied with the draft coalition agreement. PvdA leader Wouter Bos said this on Monday evening after many hours of discussion on the negotiation outcome.
Changes are still needed on a few points, Bos said. The PvdA is especially pleased with the focus on social policy and the environment. MP Sharon Dijkman said it broke the trend of the current government policy.
The CDA faction is also pleased with the accord, but would like to see amendments on a number of minor points, Balkenende said after the meeting.
He did not want to comment further on what points these might be.
The faction members were particularly glad that important CDA issues from the election campaign, like prosperity, certainty and respect were reflected in the accord.
Balkenende said that the current government policy would be continued in many areas, but that there were of course “different emphases” in some places.
