AMSTERDAM – The Dutch responded moderately positive to the parts of the draft coalition accord that were leaked in the past few days.
A survey by pollster Maurice de Hond showed on Monday that 24 percent of those asked were positive about the plans.
Thirty-three percent is somewhat positive, 21 percent is negative to varying degrees.
The most negative are voters for Geert Wilders’ Freedom Party and the Liberal VVD. The ChristenUnie’s following is the most positive.
The survey also showed that 57 percent of those asked want Jan Peter Balkenende to serve as prime minister in the new government.
