AMSTERDAM – The National Voter Survey reveals that voters have more confidence casting their vote using a voting computer than using pen and paper. The survey also shows that only 18 percent of voters want to scrap the mortgage interest relief scheme. Statistics Netherlands (CBS) published these results on Tuesday.
Several thousand voters were asked their opinion on a number of matters regarding the general elections on 22 November. CBS was pleased with the high participation: two-thirds of those selected agreed to answer all the questions in the survey.
In a survey a week before the general elections voters reported that they consider computers a more reliable means of voting than pen and paper, telephone, internet or post.
In a number of municipalities, including Amsterdam, pen and paper will be used in next week''s provincial elections because of problems with voting computers from supplier Sdu.
