President''s Cup for Africa Sports Day Accra, Dec. 13, GNA - The Under-15 schools'' soccer champions in the Northern and Southern sectors, clash at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium on Wednesday for the President''s Cup, which also marks the celebration of "Africa Sports Day."
The soccer match would climax a weeklong activity including health walk, clean-ups and lectures by various interest groups and institutions. The Africa Sports Day is observed on December 14 each year, to commemorate the formation of the Supreme Council for Sports in Africa on December 14, 1966.
Mr Joe Baidoo-Ansah, Chairman of Parliamentary Select Committee on Education and Sports is expected to address the House on Wednesday, on a wide range of issues including the Black Stars and the youth in various Zones to the contribution of sports in their physical and moral enhancement. A flag raising ceremony would also be observed on the day, meant to foster closer relations among member countries. Education and Sports Minister, Yaw Osafo-Marfo would be the special guest at the soccer match.Source: GNA
