Jukwa-Abrafo community emerge champions
Jukwa-Frame, (C/R) Dec. 26, GNA - Jukwa-Abrafo community beat their Twifo Apenkro counterparts 4-3 on penalties to lift the Rev. Ben Donkor''s Golden Cup in the finals of a community soccer tournament to climax the Christmas festivities.

The tournament was held at Jukwa-Frame in the Hemang-Lower-Denkyira constituency to bring the people together to interact through sports. The Jukwa-Abrafo community was presented with a set of football boots valued at 9.5 million cedis.

Twifo Apenkro community received a trophy plus one million cedis cash as the runners up while Twifo Wawase community who placed third received a trophy plus 500,000.00 cedis.

The tournament was organised by Rev. Benjamin B. Donkor, Member of Parliament for Hemang-Lower-Denkyira to help unearth soccer talents and to raise a team to participate in the Central Region Division Two League.

Each of the 10 communities that participated in the tournament received a set of jerseys and football.

Rev. Donkor who presented the trophy to the gala champions, commended the players for exhibiting good sportsmanship and ensuring the success of the tournament. Mr Mathew Doe, Chairman of the Central Region Football Association, commended Rev. Donkor for organizing the tournament and appealed to other parliamentarians to emulate his example to encourage the participation of the youth in sporting activities. Mr Doe said such tournaments would not only help to promote soccer but would assist the youth from indulging in social vices such as wee smoking, drug abuse and other immoral practices. Nana Amoakoh, Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira East and Mr Yaw Agyeibie-Kessie, District Chief Executive for Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira were among the spectators at the tournament.Source:
