Huge cash boost for Stars Gold Fields Ghana limited, headline sponsors of the Black Stars have announced a special package for the team just for the African Cup of Nations.
An amount of 3.6 billion cedis has been provided by the mining firm to take care of the Stars’ expenses during the twenty-day competition.
This amount lies outside the 3 million dollar sponsorship deal announced last year.
The corporate affairs director of Gold Fields Ghana, Dr Tony Aubyn says the huge cash injection into the Black Stars is an expression of the company’s desire for the Stars to excel in Egypt.
The senior national team will end their three-week stay in Tunisia today.
The Black Stars leave for Egypt later today after setting up pre-tournament camp in the Tunisian town of Monastir.
Ghana will be based in the Egyptain town of Port Said, where they play both group D opening games against the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Senegal.
Ghana’s last group encounter against Zimbabwe will however be played in Ismailia
