GFA reopens player registration Accra, Dec 21, GNA 96 The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reopened registration of players for the 2006/7 soccer season. This is in accordance with Article 28 1(d) of the GFA Regulations which makes provisions for the reopening of registration at the close of the first round of the Premier League. A statement issued from the GFA copied to the GNA Sports said the registration exercise will commence on December 27 2006 and end on Friday, January 2007. It asked all participating Clubs to take note and register players for the second round of the competition.
The reopening of the transfer window forms part of the innovation adopted at GFA''s Congress this year, the highest decision-making body in the statutes of the Association. Information reaching the GNA Sports indicates that most of the Premier League Clubs have indicated their desire to register some new players to augment their current squads. League leaders Kumasi Asante Kotoko is reported to be interested in registering former star Stephen Oduro whilst Hearts are keen on registering Charles Taylor and Ishmael Addo. The provision forms part of the plans to synchronise the calendar of the GFA with the European system. The calendar of the GFA now runs from July to April.
