| OWUSU ABEYIE''S ROLE FOR GHANA UNCERTAIN |

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) was scheduled to engage in talks with Ghanaian-born Spartak Moscow striker Quincy James Owusu-Abeyie over the role he could play to help the growth of Ghana football.
The first attempt by the present GFA to convince the 20-year-old former Arsenal player to feature for the Stars at the Germany 2006 World Cup hit a snag, following the player’s earlier romance with the Holland U-21 side at the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship. However, FA spokesman, Randy Abbey, revealed to the Daily Graphic that yesterday’s meeting was a move by his outfit to create a relationship with the Holland-based player, who is currently here on holidays.
“The meeting is just to create a relationship between the two parties. Other things can follow later,” he explained.
Owusu-Abeyie, born in Amsterdam on April 15, 1986, featured for English Premiership side, Arsenal, from September 2002 till he joined the Russian club for about £1.45m on January 31, 2006.
Quincy, as he is affectionately called, went through the ranks of the famous Ajax Amsterdam academy for nine years before joining Arsenal.
It will be recalled that the Stars coach, Claude Le Roy, also promised to hold talks with Belgium-based Ghanaian striker, Ibrahim Salou, during the Christmas break over his future with the senior national team.
