Rennes defender in Celtic talks 1/13/2007
Celtic have opened talks with Cameroon international Jean-Joel Perrier-Doumbe, who has been on trial from Rennes.
The full-back, presently under contract to French side club, has been training with the Glasgow club for two days.

The 28-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has been given permission to talk to Celtic by Rennes.

Agent Willie McKay said: "He is an experienced player who has played at two World Cups with Cameroon and he has been unlucky this season with injury."

Celtic are looking to strengthen their defence after injuries to Bobo Balde, Gary Caldwell and Mark Wilson.

Perrier-Doumbe is not cup-tied for the Champions League, unlike new signing Steven Pressley.

"He can play at both left-back and right-back and he is a strong, powerful defender," said McKay.

"He almost joined Middlesbrough last summer before he picked up the injury."
