LOC signs contract with Sportfive 4/6/2007
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of Ghana 2008 has concluded protocol agreements with Sportfive as the right holders of the 26th Edition of the Africa Cup of Nations for the management of the various marketing, publicity and broadcasting rights of the competition.

The agreement, according to a statement issued from the Secretariat of the LOC copied to the GNA Sports spells out the specific domestic rights and events that are available to the LOC as the main organizers of the event.

Dr Kofi Amoah, Chairman of the LOC signed for Ghana whilst Dr Idriss Akki, Vice President of Sportfive for Africa and the Middle East signed for his outfit at a brief ceremony at Alisa Hotel in Accra on Wednesday.

Dr Amoah said, "with the memorandum of understanding underway, the LOC now has the way clear to carry out all the activities that were revealed during the global launch as part of the overall programme of the tournament".

"Ghanaians of all walks of life have the opportunity to exhibit their great passion for football through what they bring on board to make the event a great one", he added.

Mr Akki expressed appreciation for the cooperation shown by the LOC, adding that the occasion provides them with an opportunity to support Ghana in the organisation of the event.

Alhaji Issa Hayatou, President of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) expressed satisfaction with the development, saying it will now define the relationship that will govern the way forward for a very successful tournament.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) now gives CAF the confidence that of an early start coupled with all the innovations that LOC will be coming up with to promote the tournament and make Ghana 2008 event, in all probability, surpass the global television audience of over 4.5 billion worldwide that the Africa Cup of Nations (ACN) already commands".
