Kingston''s future hanging in the balance 6/7/2007
Laryea "LARRY" Kingston''s future at Hearts remains in the balance today as his agent prepares for frantic negotiations with Vladimir Romanov over the next 24 hours.

The Ghanaian''s loan agreement from Terek Grozny stipulates that Hearts must activate their first-option clause to sign him on or before June 6, but as of this morning his representative Alexander Fedoseev was unable to predict the outcome.

Fedoseev has been involved in ongoing discussions with Tynecastle representatives from his base in Moscow and has now moved to intensify the talks in the hope of securing his client''s future in Edinburgh.

Kingston''s loan arrangement from Terek includes a pre-arranged purchase fee in the region of £500,000, but should Romanov refuse to facilitate his transfer by tomorrow''s deadline he will become available to the highest bidder.

English Premiership side Bolton Wanderers are coveting the player, who agreed a three-and-a-half year contract with Romanov worth £15,000 a week when he arrived at Hearts in January. Those terms will continue assuming his permanent transfer, but Romanov is leaving his decision late.

"Still nothing has happened and today is a crucial day for the deal," said Fedoseev. "Larry still hopes the deal can be done. We will see what the next 24 hours brings."

Romanov has been pre-occupied with non-footballing business in Croatia recently but is aware of the imminent deadline in the Kingston deal.

Hearts have proceeded to reinforce their youth team by securing 16-year-old Scotland striker David Love on a full-time contract. However, the Evening News understands Hearts will not pursue Roland Varga, the highly-rated Hungarian teenager, after he spent a trial period at Riccarton.
