Baffoe appointed SOS FIFA Ambassador 10/11/2007
Accra, Oct. 10, GNA - Former defender of Ghana''s Black Stars, Anthony Baffoe has been appointed a FIFA SOS Ambassador of the Ghana branch of the world acclaimed children-welfare organisation.

The appointment of the player comes in the wake of the organisation''s renewed quest of promoting the welfare of disadvantaged children in the society.

Mr Kojo Mattah, National Director of SOS Children''s Villages, Ghana, announced on Wednesday at a media launch of the ''Football for Peace and Development Campaign'' in connection with the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

Mr Mattah said the appointment of the ace defender is expected to help promote the organisation''s activities in their quest to use sports as a tool for development.

Baffoe expressed delight at the opportunity offered him and promised to do well in his capacity to champion the welfare of children, especially those from the less privileged backgrounds.

"I think this is the right opportunity to give back what society has given me," said Baffoe and urged children to combine education and sports to achieve greater laurels in life.
