Italian newspapers report that English Premiership side Middlesbrough have tabled a 4 million euro bid for Black Stars skipper Stephen Appiah.
Middlesbrough coach Steve MaClaren has long been an admirer of Appiah and is keen to lure him to England.
However Juventus are said to be willing to take nothing less than 5 million euro before letting the Ghanaian midfielder move to the Premiership.
Juve are expected to give Boro their final answer before the end of the week.
AS Roma and Fiorentina are also tracking the former Brescia and Udinese starlet.
Despite the interest from the clubs and a general lack of playing time last season, Appiah has told Joy Sports that he intends to stay with the Serie A champions and fight for his place in the team.
In a related transfer issue,French side, Olympique Lyon have revealed that a club bid €25 million for Michael Essien last week - and it was not Chelsea.
The Black Stars midfielder is one of Jose Mourinho''s top summer targets and the wealthy West Londoners are pressing hard to obtain his signature.
Although chairman Jean-Michel Aulas previously revealed he had rebuffed an approach from Chelsea, it appears as though Real Madrid may have been willing to put their money on the table last Friday.
Aulas had declared to Lyon''s official site that Chelsea were the only club who had "officially" approached him for Essien.
