Ghana’s U20 women’s team have arrived in Japan knowing their journey to World Cup glory has begun.
The Black Princesses embarked on a two-week training tour of US where they played series of friendly matches to fine tune ahead of the world showpiece.
Led by head coach Robert Sackey and his 21 member squad, the team is in buoyant mood ahead of their opening campaign against heavyweight US in Hiroshima on Monday August 20.
Captain Mercy Myles says their target is to reach the semi-final stage. “We are very prepared for the tournament. We know we are in a difficult group but we will do our best,” Myles said. “Our target is to reach the semi-finals and so we’re praying to God to help us attain that ambition.”
The Black Princesses will also battle holders Germany before wrapping up their group D campaign against China on August 27.
