Michael Essien’s Game of Hope and Inspiration takes centre stage in this weekend’s sporting activities. Topnotch players like Real Madrid’s Luca Modrich, Michael Ballack and Florent Malouda arrived in the country yesterday to back the AU Peace ambassador, Essien. This afternoon at the Accra Stadium, a game, involving African XI and World XI, is expected to thrill many fans that will throng the match venue. Also in town for the big game is Didier Drogba, Emmanuel Adebayor, Daniel ‘the bull’ Amokachie, Nwankwo Kanu, Kalusha Bwalya and others, who will feature for the African side while the Maloudas and Ballacks will represent the World. The programme, the second in a series, which was put together by the Michael Essien Foundation, seeks to raise funds for charity. Last night, the stars were offered a red carpet treat with a cocktail at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra. They are expected to call on President John Mahama this morning before the game at 3pm. Famous music artists from local and international scene are expected to hand the stars a treat intended to raise funds after the game at the State House.
