Beverage manufacturers Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited have announced a 10 billion cedi sponsorship package for the senior national team, the Black Stars.
This is the second major sponsorship deal for the Stars after the $3 million sponsorship package secured from main sponsors Goldfields Ghana Limited.
Under the three-year deal, the Black Stars will receive $150,000 annually from Guiness, with another annual $40,000 for a special project.
Speaking at the launch of the deal today, deputy minister of education in charge of sports, O.B Amoah said he believed the package should spur the Black Stars on to seal qualification to the world cup finals in Germany next year.
The president of Guinness Ghana breweries Limited says the sponsorship is a demonstration of the company’s belief in the Black Stars and the fulfillment of their social obligation to the country.
Also present at the signing ceremony were Mr Kwasi Nyantakyi, Acting Chairman of the GFA and Mr Kofi Nsiah, the GFA General Secretary.
