Narh makes strides in America
Accra, Nov. 2, GNA - Raymond Narh, North American Boxing Council (NABC) Lightweight Champion is still making waves in the United States of America (USA) when he recorded a unanimous decision in an eight round contest over American Marty Robbins in Petersburg last week. Reports reaching the GNA Sports reveals that Narh exerted his control over his opponent throughout the eight rounds that saw him bloodying Robbins'' nose in the third round.
By the victory, Narh, the former National and West Africa Super Featherweight and Lightweight Champion now has to his credit 16 fights with a single defeat and is set to take up a world title shot by the close of the year or early next year.
Despite the huge advantage over his opponent in the third round, the Ghanaian remained calm and continued to utilize his reach advantage over the next six minutes until he stormed inside and hit Robbins with a neat left to the head that knocked the fireplug-like Robbins off balance. Following that was a sharp straight right that sent Robbins down midway through the sixth round.
Though Robbins regained his feet, Narh cruised through the remaining two rounds to secure his victory over the Tennessee journeyman. Narh in an interview with the GNA Sports from his US base said, "I had to do what I was best at, the kid was no pushover, I had to do what I do best."
Narh''s statements after the fight demonstrate the reason why much of the talk at many of the local gyms concern him.
"I depend on God to help me," Narh said. "That is who I depend on most, but I''m also excited that the people of Pittsburgh have supported me." He told the GNA Sports.
His trainer, John Russell who trained Buster Douglas leading to Douglas'' monumental upset of Mike Tyson said, "I chose to work with Ray because I see he has it. It didn''t take me long to see his potential and that is why I began working with him."Source:
