Update On Mills'' Medical Review |
2/9/2007 |
|
We [THE NORTH AMERICA COMMITTEE TO ELECT PROF. MILLS.] wish to inform our numerous supporters and admirers that our presidential candidate, Professor John Evans Atta Mills flew to South Africa on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, on a private visit for a routine follow-up medical check-up. It will be recalled that Professor Atta Mills had announced that he had a very serious sinus condition, first diagnosed on his visit to China, and that he had undergone a very successful treatment in South Africa for this condition in the earlier part of 2006. The follow up visit to South Africa, common in medical treatment, was arranged even before the December 2, 2006, NDC Congress held in Accra.
Last Thursday, Prof Mills completed the check-up and was given a clean bill of health. He is therefore set to return to Ghana on Sunday, February 11, 2007. As friends and supporters of Prof. Mills, we wish to assure the Ghanaian electorate that Prof. Mills is in perfect health and ready to embark on an intensive and extensive political campaign. In preparing for the onerous political task ahead,. Prof. Mills has engaged in increased physical activity, shed some excess body weight and ceased any form of alcohol consumption. Prof. Mills made this very clear during President Kufour’s welcoming ceremony for Mr. Kofi Annan at the Castle a fortnight ago.
We wish to take this opportunity to appeal to our political opponents to desist from peddling falsehood. We also appeal to the media to seek and publish the truth regardless of how unpleasant it might be. Prof. Mills is in the campaign to stay and as he has proclaimed several times, he intends to wage a very professional and transparent campaign .He does not intend to hide anything from the Ghanaian public. Should he have problems with his health, he would be the first to disclose it the whole nation. As we often say,”it is the liar who says his witness is in Yendi”. Whether Prof. Mills is unhealthy as some newspapers claim or not, will be evident in the campaign.
