Parliament to rise sine die October 2 |

The Majority Leader, Cletus Avoka, has announced that Parliament is expected to rise sine die on Tuesday October 2, 2012. He made the announcement on the floor of Parliament when he read the explanatory memorandum on the business statement for the fifth week of the emergency meeting ending Tuesday, October 2, 2012. Mr Avoka expressed appreciation to members for responding to the emergency call and the high sense of duty and dedication exhibited. He expressed the hope that members would return from the brief recess fully renewed to discharge their respective roles as representatives of the people. The Member of Parliament for Takoradi, Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, said while other reports have been scheduled for consideration by the House, that of EOCO and Public Interest and Accountability reports have not been brought to the House yet. Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, First Deputy Speaker, called on the leadership to cross check to make sure all reports due for consideration are brought to the House. Mr Adjaho also directed the leadership to invite the Minister for Interior to the House to brief members about security issues with regards to the closure of the Ghana-La Cote d’Ivoire border, after the issue was raised in the House. The Minister is also to give a brief on the reported seizure of a container of cannabis which left the shores of Ghana to Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom.
